Mingma David breaks own record with sixth ascent of K2

KATHMANDU, July 27: World record climber and mountain guide Mingma David Sherpa successfully climbed the world's second-highest peak (8,611 meters) Mt K2 on Thursday. With this, Sherpa climbed the mountain a total of six times. He had previously set a record by successfully climbing Mt K2 for the fifth time.

Sherpa reached the summit of K2 at around 11:50 AM today, Pakistani time. During his fifth ascent on the mountain, Sherpa had managed to write his name in the Guinness World Records in three categories during his fifth summit on K2. He had secured his record by completing the most ascents on Mt K2, the first winter ascent of K2, and the fastest climber to do so.

He also completed the K2 Speed ​​Breaker Challenge by reaching the summit in 14 hours and 22 minutes. Sherpa is also the youngest climber to climb all 14 mountains above 8,000 meters in the world.
