Kristin, Tenjen, set new record, completes 14 eight-thousanders in 92 days
KATHMANDU, July 27: Norwegian climber Kristin Harila and Tenjen Sherpa successfully scaled Mt K2 on Thursday morning. The duo were among the 20 other climbers who scaled the world's second-highest peak at 10:45 AM today, according to Chhang Dawa Sherpa, expedition director at Seven Summit Treks.
With their recent ascent of K2, Kristin, and Tenjen have scaled all 14 eight-thousand-meter peaks under their project "Fastest 14 Peaks" in a span of 92 days, becoming the fastest to do so. Prior to this, the Norwegian climber had already climbed all 14 peaks in 370 days.
The duo has also broken the world record, previously held by climber Nirmal Purja who had successfully climbed 14 mountains higher than 8,000 meters in just over six months
Kristin and Tenjen have already climbed Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Manaslu, Cho Oyu, Shishipangma, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum-II, Gasherbrum-1, Broad Peak, and now K2.
