Govt forms committee to investigate Manang Air helicopter crash

KATHMANDU, July 12:The government has formed a commission to investigate the crash of the Manang Air chopper.

On Tuesday afternoon, an inquiry committee was created at the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers office in Singh durbar, led by Budhisagar Lamichhane, joint secretary of the Ministry of Tourism.

The meeting expressed regret over the catastrophe and paid tribute to the deceased, according to Rekha Sharma, Minister of Communication and Information Technology and Spokesperson for the Government of Nepal.

The Manang Air plane, which took off from Surke in Solukhumbu at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, went missing at 10:30 a.m. After some time had passed, an accident was discovered on Lamjura Hill in Likhupike Rural Municipality-5.

Pilot Chet Bahadur Gurung, as well as five other Mexican nationals, were discovered dead. The bodies of all six people killed have been  airlifted to the teaching hospital in Kathmandu for post-mortem.
