BANKE, July 09:A digital weather information system has been installed at Nepalgunj Airport in Banke.

The system was launched in partnership with the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and the Water and Meteorological Department, and it will be used by numerous western airports.

According to CAAN spokesperson Jagannath Niraula, a computerized system for weather information prior to flights to various destinations from Nepalgunj has been put in place.

This technology, he claims, can provide meteorological information for 20 locations, including Dhangadhi, Mahendranagar, Surkhet, Shantipur, Tikapur, Salle, and Lamhi.

According to Niraula, "now it will be easier to get weather information before flying to Surkhet, Jumla, Dolpa, and other destinations."

The CAAN plans to extend the runway at Nepalgunj airport by 2,500 meters. The airport's terminal building is being expanded for passenger facilities at a cost of approximately 3 billion rupees. The runway's current length is 1,500 meters.
