Cathay Pacific plans to increase flights between Hong Kong and Nepal to five per week

KATHMANDU, July 04:Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong's flag carrier, is going to increase the number of flights to Nepal. From March 2024, the company intends on raising the number of flights to five per week.

After the Covid infection is under control, the company plans to resume regular operations. However, Amaravati Travel, Nepal's official general sales agent, stated that the flight could not be added as planned due to a lack of cabin crew.

It is not because Nepal is a small market that Cathay has less flights. Due to a lack of cockpit crew, the flight frequency could not be increased. "The company is currently training the cockpit crew," said Jugesh Shrestha, director of Amravati, "and it takes 6 months to train one person." It is expected to fly three times in September, four times in November, and five times in March 2024.

He stated that, despite the low number of flights, the Hong Kong-Nepal two-way flight is currently 90 percent full.

Cathay Pacific has closed one of its three brands, 'Cathay Dragon,' as a result of the loss of the air service business sector as a result of Covid-19. According to the company, the decision was made due to the uneasy position in the air service industry.
