POKHARA, June 22: The Chinese ambassador to Nepal, Chan Song, has stated that the Pokhara Regional International Airport is part of the BRI project. He made the remarks during an event held upon the arrival of the first international commercial airliner at Pokhara International Airport on Wednesday.

During the airport's inauguration, he stated that Pokhara International Airport was built under the BRI project.


He noted in the program that the Pokhara International Airport was designed and built with the assistance of the Chinese government.

The building of this airport began on July 18, 2018, following an agreement between the Nepalese government and the Chinese government-owned contractor company CAMCE. A contract was made with CAMCE for US$ 244 million 40 thousand, including VAT.

The government obtained a loan of one billion 378 million Chinese Yuan in 2012 by signing an agreement with China's Exim Bank.
