Garbage disposal machine installed at TIA

KATHMANDU, June 22:The garbage that was waste generated by Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu will now be incinerated within the airport. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has activated the garbage disposal equipment 'Incinerator' in front of Tribhuvan Airport's domestic parking way.

According to Pradeep Adhikari, director general of the CAAN, the international airport is capable of managing its own garbage, and the equipment has also been placed in Nepal. "The concept is that we should be self-sufficient; it also helps greatly to enhance air safety," he said.

The spokesperson for the Tribhuvan Airport Office, Teknath Sitaula, stated that this machine can destroy naturally created garbage, solid objects, and documents. He stated that this equipment will not be used to manage mineral and liquid materials such as plastic and iron/steel. "Other than waste that cannot be burned naturally, it will be destroyed by this machine," he stated.

Passengers, aircraft, offices, and restaurants generate more garbage inside the airport. Every day, up to four trucks of waste are created from Tribhuvan Airport, according to Sitaula. It is said that most of the waste produced inside the airport can be destroyed as it is paper, plywood, wood and dust generated from outside the plane repair area.

The excrement inside the plane has been routed from the airport to the sewer. To handle waste, two machines have been put within the airport. "Two units of machines have been installed," said spokeswoman Sitaula, "and we can put them into operation as needed." He explained that these equipment were installed as part of the airport development project.
