Agreement between CAAN and French Civil Aviation Authority to enhance Nepal's air safety

KATHMANDU, June 20:The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and the French Civil Aviation Authority have struck an agreement to improve flight safety.

The agreement was signed by Pradeep Adhikari, Director General of CAAN, and Damien Caze, Director General of the French Civil Aviation Authority.

"On Monday in Paris, an agreement was signed between the director generals of the two countries for Nepal's aviation security and human resource development," said an CAAN employee, "and this agreement will provide us with more significant support to withdraw from the European Union's security list."

This deal will span four years, according to the CAAN. The agreement states that if a country needs to cancel the agreement for whatever reason, it must submit a formal request. The contract is said to be voidable within 60 days after application.

According to the agreement, the French Aviation Authority will assist Nepal in improving the quality of its air safety, including technical capacity building and training.

French technicians are still working in the air safety department under the CAAN.
