Five Jugal mountain peaks open for climbing

KATHMANDU, June 14: The government has opened 5 new snow peaks for mountain climbing. Five peaks in the Jugal snow range in Sindhupalchok district have been opened for climbing, according to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation. These peaks are belong by Jugal Rural Municipality, according to Ministry Secretary Suresh Adhikari.

The government has decided to open mountaineering purposes at 6,591 meters Jugal 1, 6,518 meters Jugal 2, 6,184 meters Jugal 3, 5,936 meters Jugal 4, and 5,922 meters Jugal 5.

The government has published the specifics of the mountains that have been opened in the gazette, paving the path for commercial climbing in these ranges.

Gyalzen mountain (6151 meters) belonging to the Jugal snow range is the peak that has been climbed in 2019. These mountains are thought to be the nearest to Kathmandu. These mountains are thought to be excellent for climbing practice before attempting the highest peaks.

Jugal rural municipality 90 kilometers northeast of Kathmandu. It is said that there are 8 peaks higher than 6000 meters in the Jugal mountain range. Recently, the local administration has made several efforts to promote Jugal as a tourism destination.
