Kristin  Harila of Norway successfully climbed 9 summits in 45 days

KATHMANDU, June 14: Kristin Harila, a Norwegian climber, has successfully climbed Manaslu, the world's eighth highest peak, with Nepalese Sherpa guide Tenjen (Lama) Sherpa.

They have successfully climbed 9 of the world's 14 mountains higher than 8000 meters. Harila and Sherpa, a Norwegian climber, successfully climbed nine summits in 45 days.

According to Seven Summit Treks, I arrived at the main peak of Manaslu, the world's eighth highest mountain, at 3:30 a.m. Saturday with a Harila Nepali Sherpa guide.

Harila, Tenzen (Lama) Sherpa, Pasang Nurbu Sherpa, Chhangba Sherpa, Kaji Sherpa, Nima Dorchi Sherpa, and Sonam Tashi Sherpa from Seven Summit Treks summited Manaslu. Kristin and Tenjen, who set a goal of climbing 14 mountains higher than 8,000 meters in three months, had already completed nine of them.

Kristin has climbed nine summits with the assistance of a Sherpa guide. Now there are only five mountains left in Pakistan.  She is getting ready to ascend those mountains. Harila, a Norwegian climber, previously ascended 14 8,000-meter summits in one year and five days, becoming the first female climber to do so.

Kristin and the Sherpas are on a mission to break world record climber Nirmal Purja's record. Purja achieved a global record by climbing 14 mountains over 8,000 meters in less than seven months.

Kristin and Sherpa have climbed Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Manaslu, Cho Oyu, and Shishapangma to name a few. K2, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum-I, Gasherbrum-II, and Broad Peak Pakistan remain unclimbed.
