Nepal-China Dragon Boat Festival in Pokhara from June 23

KATHMANDU, June 10:In the third week of June, Pokhara will host the Nepal-China Friendship Dragon Boat Festival. According to the Nepal Tourism Board, the festival celebrating Chinese culture would be held for the first time in South Asia.

Wang Jin, the Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, stated at a press conference on Thursday that such a festival will boost the relationship between the two countries and the people on a personal level, as well as increase tourism.

The Boat Festival, according to Jin, has taken place in over 50 nations and regions.

Dr. Dhananjaya Regmi, Chief Executive Officer of the NTB, expressed his opinion that this event, which will be held for the first time in Nepal, will offer a new dimension to the country.

In June, the Nepal-China Friendship Dragon Boat Festival will take place. According to the Nepal Tourism Board, the festival celebrating Chinese culture would be held for the first time in South Asia.

The NTB stated that the festival will be held not only this year, but every year. This program will be added as a new product to Nepal's total tourism. More tourists can be brought in this way each year. "All stakeholders must work together and participate," he stated.

He stated that after the Pokhara international airport is constructed, this type of initiative will help to attract foreign visitors as well as operate international flights from the airport.

On May 21, last year, the Tourism Board, the Chinese Embassy, and the Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality signed a memorandum of agreement in conjunction with the program to be implemented with the goal of attracting Chinese tourists in Nepal.

According to the NTB, the festival will be place on June 23 and 24, in partnership with several tourism-related industries.
