PATA Summit and Adventure Mart 2023 concludes emphasis on sustainable tourism and digitization

POKHARA, June 05:The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), an umbrella organization of travel associations in the Asia Pacific area, ended its 'Annual Summit and Adventure Mart-2023' in the tourist city of Pokhara, with an emphasis on sustainable tourism and digitization.

The Pokhara Tourism Council, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Tourism Board, Pata International, and Pokhara Metropolitan City, launched the Mart on May 16. Experts stressed the importance of sustainable tourism for economic development throughout the four-day conference and debates and discussions held at the mart. 

They stated that digitalization should be used in conjunction with tourism development and promotion in a changing environment.


Similarly, they stated that, while global tourism is gradually returning to pre-Covid levels, the industry is still feeling the consequences of the economic downturn. According to experts, it will take nearly a year for global tourism to return to pre-Covid levels. According to the organizers, this conference, which was held for the first time in Nepal, was successful in improving the tourism sector, which had been damaged by the Corona pandemic, as well as marketing Nepal as an adventurous tourist destination.

More than 250 attendees, buyers, and vendors from 21 different nations attended the conference. Tourism professionals from around the world discussed and analyzed the newest state of the world's tourism, problems and opportunities, artificial intelligence, social media influence, epidemics, and many facets of sustainable tourism. Tourism expert professors from several nations, including Abdullah Masum, also took part. Who have thoughts on many aspects of tourism.

The conference hosted the PATA annual summit, the main conference, PATA Mart B2B, the Youth Symposium, and an exchange of travel experiences from Nepal's tourist destinations. PATA International President Peter Simon concluded the program by congratulating Nepal on a spectacular and systematic organization of the PATA Summit and Adventure Mart. "This conference will help to promote Nepal as a beautiful, safe, and adventure tourism destination," he explained. According to Madan Acharya, executive member of the Nepal Tourism Board, hosting this world level event will assist promote tourism in Nepal as a whole, as well as Pokhara.


The tourism board's chief executive officer, Dr. Dhananjaya Regmi, stated that the conference will offer a new dimension to tourism, which is returning to normalcy following the Covid-19 pandemic.
