Lumbini cable car will begin operations on Monday

KATHMANDU, May 28:The "Lumbini Cable Car," which will connect Butwal to Palpa and expand to the historic and archaeological site of Basantapur, is now under development. Chandra Dhakal, head of the Lumbini Cable Car Development Committee, spoke at a news conference about the last preparations being made with the goal of resuming regular operations on May 29th.

The Lumbini Cable Car Development Committee's chairman, Chandra Dhakal, stated that the cable car, which is located in Ward No. 3 of the Tinau Rural Municipality in Butwal and Palpa, aims to facilitate transportation of tourists visiting the Gautam Buddha International Airport as well as accommodate Buddhist tourists visiting Lumbini by extending the cable car up to Kusadevi Temple.

Butwal Basantapur serves as the main focus for tourists coming from India, according to Chandra Dhakal, who highlighted the integrated tourism growth brought about by Butwal Hills. The cable car, which cost approximately 5 billion Nepali rupees to build, is scheduled to open on May 29th. Furthermore, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda will inaugurate it on June 8th, according to protocol. Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli lay the foundation stone for the cable car on February 12, 2021.

Chandra Dhakal also mentioned the ongoing building of the Kamokshadevi Temple, a 150-bed hotel, and the establishment of a restaurant, bar, and park in Basantapur.
