81 people from seven provinces receive trekking guide training

KATHMANDU, May 25:Trekking guide training has been completed by 81 people from all seven provinces. In Kathmandu, a 35-day trekking guide training was completed with the help of the Sustainable Tourism Project for Livelihood Restoration (STLRP), a project run jointly by the Nepal Tourism Board and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and in collaboration with the Nepal Mountain Academy (NMA).

The program was attended by 81 participants from all seven provinces, according to the NTB. The training included a mix of theoretical and practical topics such as general trekking information, geography and geography of the country, environment, history of Nepalese religion, intercultural tourism behavior, trekking and mountaineering, safety and security while trekking, and risk management training.


According to the NTB, similar training has been held at various periods in order to address the tourism industry's labor shortfall. Maniraj Lamichhane, director of Nepal Tourism Board and project national program coordinator, stated that theoretical and practical sessions were held to make the training more realistic, making the training more effective.

Tshering Pande Bhote, Vice President of Nepal Mountaineering Instructors Association (NMIA) and international trainer, and Sanjay Bhatt, NMA trainer, offered experimental training in cockney during the course. Twenty professors from diverse disciplines, including Arjun Rai, Executive Director of Nepal Mountain Academy (NMA), provided instruction in Kathmandu.
