Desh bandhu Basnet appointed as chairman of tourism and aviation committee of FNCCI
KATHMANDU, May 18:Desh bandhu Basnet has been appointed to the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI)'s Tourism and Aviation Committee. According to the federation's constitution, the president, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has appointed him as chairman of the stated committee.
He has been an executive member of Basnet FNCCI twice and has been active in Nepal's tourist sector for a decade. Previously, as chairman of NRN and bi-national forum of the FNCCI, he collaborated with bi-national associations and non-resident Nepalese groups from other countries.
During the certificate distribution ceremony, Dhakal, the FNCCI's president, stated that with the appointment of Basnet as chairman of the tourism committee, Nepal will be promoted internationally and will help the country earn more money by attracting foreign tourists. Furthermore, Dhakal feels that it will help to strengthen the Fncci's image and prestige.
Basnet, which plans to manage star-level hotels and resorts in Nepal, has brought in several world-renowned hotel brands to encourage tourism. Basnet is said to have finished two five-star hotels in Kathmandu and Itahari at the same time.
He plans to open Sarovar Hotels and Resorts under the Sarobar premium brand at the five-star level in Manakamana, a tourist and religious destination with an area of 50 ropani.
Basnet, a professional engineer, serves as Zambia's honorary consul in Nepal. He is also a member of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce's working committee. Basnet, the chairman of AB Holdings, has invested in projects and infrastructure development, hotel tourism, manufacturing, health, real estate, and diverse initiatives within the portfolio.
