16-year-old Chinese youth scales Everest

KATHMANDU, May 17: A 16-year-old Chinese girl has ascended Mount Everest with the onset of the Spring Season.

The Chinese girl Sui Cho Yuan successfully reached Everest via the south slope at 5:42 am on May 15. 

Organizing a press conference here Wednesday, Nepal Big Mountain Travel shared this information. The Travel had facilitated the summit of Yuan, according to Managing Director Sudarshan Nepal. 

The Chinese girl is said to be the youngest woman climber.

On the occasion, climber Yuan shared that she was inspired by her father, Lei, who had scaled Everest from the north slope in 2007. Although the adverse atmosphere posed hostility in the beginning, it was clear weather on the day she reached the world's highest peak.

She also extended thanks to the Sherpas who assisted her in climbing Everest. The Everest region was polluted with trash, and her team brought back the used materials from the region to keep it clean.

Meanwhile, former Chair of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, Ang Chhiring Sherpa, viewed there was no provision to issue permits to people below 16 for climbing Everest.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Everest summit this year, various programmes are being organized in the country. The climbing for this year had begun since last Saturday.
