Manakamana cable car highest number of visitors after pandemic

KATHMANDU, May 16:The number of visitors on Gorkha's Mankamana cable car has reached an all-time high since Covid. According to Executive Director of the company Rajesh Babu Shrestha, 126,000 visitors arrived the cable car  in April/May.

The control of Covid-19 has resulted in an increase in the number of worshippers visiting Mankamana. According to Director Shrestha, now more than 4,000 devotees and passengers are taking the service on an average daily, said Director Shrestha.

According to him, until April/May of the current fiscal year, the number of people using the cable car service had reached 870,000. He predicted that the number of service passengers would reach 1.5 million by June. He stated that Nepalese made up 71.17% (6,19,373) of total passengers through April, while Indians made up 24.10% (2,09,743).

He stated that the number of Indian tourists has increased significantly in recent years.

The Manakamana cable car was recently updated from an analog to a digital system. The cable car tower, gondola, bullwheel, and other equipment remain same. According to the company, this is Nepal's first cable car with a digital connect system.
