Yeti Group president Lakpa Sonam to scale Everest

KATHMANDU, May 08:Lakpa Sonam Sherpa, president of Yeti Group, will scale Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world.  He has now reached the base camp for climbing Mount Everest.

According to the Department of tourism, Sherpa have already secured a climbing permission for Mount Everest. "Sherpa is now at Everest Base Camp.

Except for Mount Everest, Lakpa Sonam Sherpa has climbed the remaining seven tallest peaks in the world's seven continents.

If he makes it to the summit of Mt Everest, Lakpa will be the first Nepali to complete all seven'real' summits, including Mt Carstensz. Mt Aconcagua (6,962 m) in Argentina, Mt Denali (6,190 m) in North America, Mt Kilimanjaro (5,895 m) in Africa, Mt Elbrus (5,642 m) in Europe, Puncak Jaya/ Mt Carstensz (4,884 m) in Oceania, and Mt Vinson (4,892 m) in Antarctica have all been climbed by Sherpa.

Lakpa Sonam Sherpa is a well-known entrepreneur in Nepal's tourism industry.
