Agreement between Police Academy and NATHM for increase efficiency of tourist police

KATHMANDU, May 04:The National Police Training Academy and the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) have come to an agreement to increase the effectiveness of the tourist police.

Sugandh Shrestha, the chief of the tourist police and deputy superintendent of police, said that the two organizations had signed an agreement to undertake training to increase the effectiveness of police officers working for the tourist police and police officers participating in the tourism industry.

The development of human resources, information exchange, coordination, and cooperation connected to the tourism sector in the future, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shrestha, will be marked by the cooperation and coordination between the two organizations.I think that following this training, police officers will be more effective in their jobs and will be able to better serve foreign tourists.

The agreement was signed by Senior Superintendent of Police Govind Thapaliya, Co-Director of National Police Training Academy, Ajay Kumar Dhakal, Head of Travel and Research Department on behalf of NATHM.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Shrestha said that even after 46 years since the establishment of the Tourist Police, no training has been conducted so far, realizing the need for training, a new course has been created and prepared to operate from the financial year 2080/2081.

At the same time, he said, an orientation workshop on 'tourist and Hospitality' was held for 35 NATHM personnel from the tourist and government sectors. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shrestha, 35 persons attended the course, including 30 senior police officers from the Nepal Police and 5 from the Tourist Police.
