Monitoring began in order to make Thamel safe and orderly

KATHMANDU, May 03:The Thamel tourist Development Council, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, City Police Force, Lainchaur Police Circle, Durbar Marg Police Circle, Traffic Police Thamel, Tourist Police Thamel, local home owners, and tourist experts have all worked together to keep the area safe.

Bhabishwor Sharma, Chairman of Thamel Tourism Development Council, stated that monitoring has begun in order to keep Thamel secure. 

Local and foreign tourists have been robbed and performing immoral acts in the Thamel area for a few days, Sekwa Poli is polluting the environment on the streets, street children, beggers, selling goods on handcrafts, doing other business in the name of bare trade, parking on the streets at random, and noise pollution from some restaurants and bar. Following widespread complaints, the Thamel Tourism Development Council has begun monitoring.

Sharma stated that the installation of CC cameras in Thamel has already begun, and that they are attempting to create a climate in which people say, "Let's go to Thamel, stay in Thamel, and eat in Thamel." According to the council, there is a collective conversation about employing security staff and private guards, and there is a proposal to conduct a street festival in Thamel every Friday from 7 p.m. to 12 p.m.

It is said that the monitoring which started on 30th April from 10 pm will continue continuously for one month. 

Bhabishwor Sharma, President of Thamel Tourism Development Council, has urged Thamel residents and business owners to support the monitoring.
