Kathmandu’s champion will represent the city in the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup Grand Finals

8th Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup returns to Gokarna Forest Golf Club

KATHMANDU, May 02:Turkish Airlines, which flies to more countries than any other airline, landed in Kathmandu on April 30th with the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup at Gokarna Forest Golf Club.The event was attended by local high-profile figures and members of the business community.

Since its establishment in 2013,the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup now brings together over 8,000 players who compete against one another in more than 85 tournaments worldwide. 

The event at Gokarna Forest Golf Club was the 5th of 88 tournaments in this year’s Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup – with the victors competing in the Grand Finals in 
Türkiye later this year. From a global total of 88, those that win will go through to the Grand Finals and have the chance to play at Gloria Serenity Resort on the Turkish Golf Coast. 
  
Representing Kathmandu, Lt. Col Dinesh Baniya secured their champion position with 40 points, and Pradip KC was runner-up, while Chandra Limbu came third.   
  
The Closest to the Pin competition was won by Sanjay Paudyal for the men and Kashmira Shah for the women. Wangchen Dhondup won the lowest gross score with a level par score of 36.  
  
Turkish Airlines General Manager in Nepal, Mr. Serkan Başar said: “We warmly thank all of our guests who made the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup here in Kathmandu a huge success. Once again, it was a thrilling tournament in the TAWGC series, congratulations to our winner, Lt. Col. Dinesh Baniya. We wish him the best of luck in Türkiye.”
