Chitwan National Park's revenue collection increased

KATHMANDU, May 02:With an increase in tourists to Chitwan National Park (CNP), income collection has begun to rise. The park earned 190.8 million rupees in income till the end of March of the current fiscal year.

In the previous fiscal year, the park earned 114.9 million rupees. With three months left in the current fiscal year, the park anticipates that revenue will be double that of the previous year.

The largest income generated in the previous 10 years was 294.4 million rupees in the fiscal year 2018/19.

From July through March of this year, 221,503 tourists visited. According to the park, 1 lakh 59 thousand 708 are Nepalese, 22 thousand 390 are from SAARC nations, and 39 thousand 405 are visitors from other countries.

Previously, 190,000 tourists visited the park in the previous fiscal year. In the previous ten years, the lowest number of tourists visiting the park was 87,391 in fiscal year 2020/21 and 98,228 in fiscal year 2022/23, when the coronavirus pandemic spread.

Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, the park's information officer, stated that in recent years, more domestic visitors than foreigners have visited the area. The number of immigrants has progressively increased since the Covid-19 pandemic.

The park has spent half of its gathered income in the core area. It has also provided recompense for wild animal damage to humans, human settlements, and agriculture. The park provided compensation of 15 million rupees in the previous fiscal year.
