Hoteliers urges to recognize hotel business as an industry

KATHMANDU, May 01:Birgunj's hoteliers have urged that the hotel sector be recognized as an industry. On Sunday, hoteliers made this demand in a memorandum to Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Supply Ramesh Rijal.

They are demanding that businessmen should recognize the sector as an industry in order to help in strengthening and developing the sector, saying that the 'hotel and tourism business' sector has an important role in the economic development of the country.They claim that the hotel industry is a dependable source of entrepreneurship and employment, as well as a decent way of generating foreign currency.

We have been advocating for the recognition of the 'hotel and tourism business' as an industry. Such accreditation serves as the foundation for us to get concessions and privileges offered to industries. It will aid in the strengthening and development of the 'hotel and tourism business,' which is a reliable source of enterprise and employment as well as a well-established source of foreign currency, and which is an important sector marked by the state of the country's economic development, according to the memorandum submitted to Minister Rijal.

According to hotelier Hari Pant, if hotels are recognized as an industry, businessmen will get various facilities from the state. He said that it is not right to register hotel businessmen in the industry but to see them only as a profitable business.
