Bird strike on flydubai aircraft not confirmed : CAAN

KATHMANDU, April 25: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has said that the matter of the bird hitting the FlyDubai plane which flew from Kathmandu to Dubai on Monday evening has not been yet confirmed.

The CAAN said that this could not be confirmed by the immediate physical inspection by the airport staff.

Earlier, Fly Dubai had tweeted saying that a bird may have hit the plane. CAAN said that it could not be confirmed on Tuesday.

According to airport spokesperson Teknath Sitaula, the bird that died on Monday was not found at the airport, runway or its surroundings. He said that a sparrow was found dead and that the sparrow had died and dried up a few days ago. "It didn't die because of yesterday's incident," he said.

According to the CAAN, the pilot of FZ 576 informed the airport about the unusual situation. After that, the CAAN made arrangements for all the emergency provisions.

It was prepared when the pilot wanted to land the plane in Kathmandu. However, the pilot decided to continue the flight towards the destination.

The company will now report to the CAAN on its own behalf. The CAAN says that only then will it be revealed about what happened on the plane.
