NAC appoints Shravan Rijal as its Operations Director

KATHMANDU, April 18:The Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has appointed Captain Shravan Rijal as the chief of the operations division.

Rijal, a wide-body aircraft instructor pilot, has been appointed chief of the airline's operations division. Yuvaraj Adhikari, the executive chairman of the NAC, appointed Uddhav Ghimire, who was not yet qualified, as the head.

After determining that Ghimire's qualifications were not met, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) requested an explanation. The Adhikari fired Rabindra Sherchan, the operating department's head, and appointed Ghimire, a close pilot who lacked the necessary qualifications, as the new chief.

Contrary to the operation manual approved and implemented by the NAC itself, he was seriously negligent in safety by assigning the responsibility of the department to a junior pilot who was not qualified.

After being fired due to regulator concerns regarding Ghimire, Rijal was appointed head of the operations division.
