Maulakali cable car begins operations
NAWALPUR, April 17:With the start of the New Year 2080, the Maulakali cable vehicle was put into service at Gaidakot in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta east).
The cable car was launched today to serve visitors to the Maulakalika temple, Gaidakot's sacred site, on the occasion of the New Year, according to Abhishek Bikram Shah, Chief of the Maulakalika Cable Car Management Department.
The cable car takes only five minutes to reach the Maulakalika temple. The cable is around two kilometers long and has 12 cabins. He noted that the cost of two-way service is Rs 550. Each cabin seats eight passengers.
Similarly, the cable car service costs Rs 330 for children under three feet tall, Rs 415 for students and senior citizens, and Rs 275 for differently abled people.
Cable car service would be free for everyone over the age of 80 and children under the age of three.
"We operate cable car service from 6:00 a.m. and it can be operated around the clock if necessary," Shah explained.
The cable car was built with 51% funding from IME Group and 49% from locals.
He also stated that around 5,000 individuals used the cable car service on the first day. After a few days, the cable car service will be properly launched.
