Domestic Tourist increases from Ranikot to Nagarkot

BHAKTAPUR, April 17:For the previous three years, hotels and resorts in the district from Nagarkot to Ranikot have been packed with foreign and domestic travelers to celebrate the New Year 2080. This has piqued the interest of hotel operators, who have been hard struck by the coronavirus pandemic. 

According to Ramsundar Baken, tourism businessman and proprietor of Village Highland Resort Ranikot, most of the hotels in Ranikot are located around the confluence of Gundu and Sipadol in Suryavinayak Municipality. Hotel reservations for the New Year had been made two weeks in advance.

Ranikot offers views of the Kathmandu Valley and Bhaktapur City, as well as different mountain ranges. It is situated at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level on the boundary of Suryavinayak and Panauti Municipalities in Kavre.

Similarly, Rajendra Path, the hotelier and owner of Ghyampedanda Resort, stated that the arrival of tourists has increased significantly since the completion of the Ghyampedanda-Ranikot paved route. 

As the number of tourists has increased, a zip line has opened in the Ghyampedanda Ranikot area, and the construction of huge hotels has increased. There are currently 14 hotels in places that are popular with domestic tourists. 

Meanwhile, hotels in Nagarkot are fully booked for three days of New Year's celebrations. The hotels here are full with tourists to see the first dawn of the year, according to Gokul Lamichhane, proprietor of Hotel Marigold.

The tourism industry will thrive if the route to Nagarkot is built, according to Lamichhane.
