CHITWAN, April 17:Commercial paragliding flights have begun in Chitwan. The Himalayan Frontiers Paragliding Company Chitwan has launched a commercial paragliding flight to coincide with the Nepali New Year, 2080 BS.

According to firm chairperson Bijaya Bahadur Ghale, the adventure sport hopes to attract both domestic and foreign tourists visiting the district.     

A flight begins in Chaukidanda in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29 and descends to the banks of the Trishuli River in Devghat Rural Municipality-5. Tourists visiting the district for a jungle safari, in particular, are a target for the adventurous sport, he said.     

According to the area's proprietor, Shalik Dawadi, rope cycling and bungee jumping will be added in the future. "We have plans to build a resort in Chaukidanda as well," he stated. In addition, the firm has obtained permission to perform paragliding flights at Kabilas Danda.     

A paragliding flight costs Rs 8,000, and there is a 25% discount at the moment, he added, adding that 45 individuals can fly per day.     

According to Shailendra Raut, General Secretary of the Nepal Paragliding Association, tourists like soaring above the Nagbeli road and the Trishuli River in particular.     

According to paragliding pilot Sanjaya Gautam, the geography and weather conditions here are ideal for paragliding.     

Paragliding begins in Bharatpur to have visiting tourists get a different taste of tourism, said the Bharatpur Metropolitan City Mayor Renu Dahal, adding that efforts are ongoing to promote tourism here.     

Informing that 'Bharatpur Visit Year' would be observed throughout the year, 2024, she stressed the need for launching various activities to prolong the stay of visiting tourists. (RSS)
