Taalpari group comes in first place in boat race

POKHARA, April 14: The Talpari group took first place in the boat race competition held at Fewa lake on Thursday, the second day of the three-day 18th Fewa New Year festival in Pokhara.

Similarly, Barahi Ghat A finished second, while Barahi Ghat D finished third. Gaurighat B Group has won the consolation prize. The competition featured eight different groups. The competition was officially launched by blowing the whistle by Vaibhav Paudel, Managing Director of Hotel Barahi.

The competition's first, second, and third place winners received 15,000, 10,000, and 8,000 rupees, respectively. As a consolation prize, 5,000 rupees were awarded. Jungle Power Twenty Four Hours provided free lunch to the fifth-place group. The prizes were presented to the victors by the competition's chief guest, Paudel, and the president of the association and festival coordinator, Laxman Subedi.

The participants took a boat from Paharighat to Lakehau across the lake, then returned to the same ghat. Each group consisted of three people. Welcoming the new year, Lakshman Subedi, chairman of the organizing association and festival coordinator, announced that a boat race competition was held on the lake to raise awareness about Phewa lake conservation.

Poudel, the chief guest, stated that programs such as boat races will benefit in the promotion of tourism in Pokhara. He stated that the competition held on New Year's Day heightened the festival's excitement.

Balaram Giri, the tournament's coordinator and head of the Phewa Dunga Business Association, believes that the panchebaza and dance song competition will aid in the marketing of Pokhara's tourism. According to the group's secretary, Shiva GC, the organization has donated a free boat for the tournament.

Namaste Hospital Pvt Ltd also held a free health camp in conjunction with the competition. The competition was sponsored by Hotel Barahi. Parvati Pandey, the association's secretary, hosted the event. The Fewa New Year Festival's dancing and cuisine program continued on Thursday. The event, which runs from Fistail Gate to Khare, focuses on tourism, culture, and food. The major sponsor is Bahrasinge Beer Festival, while the co-organizer is Annapurna Cablecar Pvt Ltd. The festival has been promoted by the Nepal Tourism Board and is supported by the Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality.
