NAC senior pilot Sherchan suspended

KATHMANDU, April 13:Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has decided to suspended the then head of operation director senior pilot Capt. Rabindra Kumar Sherchan.

Because senior captain Sherchan was found to be accountable for the inability to operate the scheduled Kathmandu-Dubai-Kathmandu flight on 1 April, resulting in a large loss to the NAC, he has been suspended for the time being for further inquiry, according to NAC.

An investigating committee was constituted following the event, according to a top officer of NAC.Based on the preliminary report of the committee, it was decided to suspend him as further investigation is required.

The scheduled flights to Dubai was canceled on April 1 because the first officer became ill and the NAC Operation Department was unable to swiftly handle an additional pilot.

Tourism Minister Sudan Kirati has asked for an explanation only on Monday after the recent incidents of misconduct within the NAC.
