Govt decided to seek for permission to fly from Nepalgunj Airport to India

KATHMANDU, April 11:The Nepal government has decided to seek permission for flights from Nepalgunj Airport to various Indian cities. Sudan Kirati, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, stated that correspondence for that purpose has been decided through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

For a long time, the Nepalese government has been developing Terai major airports as regional airports and planning flights to Indian cities.

However, India is not positive about it. In addition, India has not provided air routes to Gautam Buddha International Airport and Pokhara Airport to facilitate travel.

As a result, despite their great potential, international flights have been unable to take off from these airports. Buddha Air wishes to fly from Pokhara to Varanasi.

Currently, the Civil Aviation Authority has begun work to make Nepalgunj airport regional at a cost of 3 billion rupees.

The new terminal building in Nepalgunj has already begun construction. After six decades, a cutting-edge terminal building will be built at this airport in response to passenger traffic.

According to Buddhisagar Lamichhane, joint secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, the ministry is planning a meeting with Indian technicians for air route expansion soon. He stated that the plan will be launched again through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the goal of promoting tourism in both countries.
