CCTV cameras installed in Kanchanpur to monitor tigers

KANCHANPUR, April 09:The Kunda Sub-Division Forest Office has installed CCTV cameras to monitor tigers after big cats began to enter human settlements in Kanchanpur district's southern area.

According to Dinesh Kumar Yadav, Assistant Forest Officer, three CCTV cameras have been installed in the Jamuna Community Forest area of Punarbash Municipality and nearby Thapa Chowk in Belauri Municipality.

Yadav revealed, "Later on, tigers were seen entering human settlements. We set up CCTV cameras to monitor areas where wild cats were seen entering human settlements."

For the next week, the Forest Office will keep an eye out for tiger movement in areas where CCTV cameras have been installed. "If tigers are not spotted in those areas, we will relocate them," he said.

It should be noted that on March 24, a 32-year-old woman from Punarbash municipality was killed in a tiger attack while visiting Dhudhwa National Park in bordering India.

A week later, an Indian woman was killed by a tiger in an Indian village bordering Belauri village in Kanchanpur district, terrifying the residents.

According to Yadav, the National Trust for Nature Conservation supported the CCTV installation project. "The tiger threat has terrified the locals. Tiger does not wander around aimlessly. After monitoring those areas with CCTV cameras for a week, we will be able to determine whether or not tigers are present."

Tigers from the neighboring Dhudwa National Park have been observed entering human settlements in Nepal's villages in the past.
