Nepal to be promoted as a global travel destination

KATHMANDU, April 08:The government has set the goal of making Nepal a popular international tourist destination.

The United Government's priority and common minimum program, announced on Thursday at the Prime Minister's Office and the Council of Ministers, includes a plan to develop the necessary infrastructure to achieve the goal. It is included in the common minimum program to make necessary plans for tourism infrastructure development.

Aside from developing infrastructure such as airports, aviation, and Himalayan roads, the government's priority in the tourist sector is to develop and manage the quality of service providers such as hotels, travel agencies, and trekking agencies.

Although the construction of Nijgadh International Airport, which is proposed as a national pride project in Bara, has progressed, the project's work has been slowed due to unresolved environmental issues. The government has begun the necessary procedures to expedite this project. The airport has been designated and fenced so far.

The government has planned to develop sports as an industry, build international level sports infrastructure, and develop sports tourism as part of a special program for the development of green tourism.
