Unknown individuals attacked an elephant in Sauraha and cut off its trunk

CHITWAN, April 06: An elephant's trunks have been severed in the tourist town of Sauraha. 

The trunks of an elephant tied up in Hattisar was found cut with a sharp weapon around 11:30 last night, according to Khatiwada, who is also the former president of the Sauraha-based Restaurant and Bar Association. He said that he saw such an incident when he went to see the elephant crying out in pain.

According to Khatiwada, the trunks may have been severed with the intent of killing the elephant. According to him, the 45-year-old Chanchalkali elephant's trunk has been cut six inches.

According to Khatiwada, the cut part of the trunks cannot be attached, and the treatment is being discussed between Chitwan National Park doctors and technicians and the National Nature Conservation Trust.

Elephants use their trunks to pick up objects and grab food. Superintendent Rameshwar Karki of the District Police Office stated that the incident is being investigated with the assistance of Nepal Police and the park administration. This is the first case of an elephant's trunks being cut.
