TIMS makes mountain tourism safer: TAAN

KATHMANDU, April 02:Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), has said the new Trekking Information Management System (TIMS) standards will help to make trekking and mountain tourism safer.

Nilhari Bastola, President of TAAN, issued a statement saying that the government recently introduced the standard for organizing Trekking Information Management System (TIMS)-2079 and that this standard will help to make hiking and mountain tourism in Nepal safer.

"The meeting of the Nepal Tourism Board's Executive Committee welcomes the Nepal Tourism Board's decision on the issuance of the Standards-2079 related to managing the Trekking Information Management System (TIMS)," said Chairman Bastola in a statement.

He stated that making Nepal a safe destination in the global tourism market will improve the area's quality and competitiveness, boost the confidence of mountain tourism entrepreneurs, attract more investment, and help to significantly increase employment.

According to TAAN, the contribution of mountain tourism to the nation's gross domestic product will increase. Chairman Bastola stated that TAAN has been working for policy reforms to make tourism safe, dignified, business-friendly, employment-oriented, and sustainable for a long time.
