Dharan Expo promotes Nepali tourism

SUNSARI, March 08: Dharan has hosted an expo to promote local tourism. Sudan Kirati, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, stated in the program that Dharan should be made a tourist hub in the eastern region, and local products should be promoted. He also stated that religious sites in the eastern region, as well as the Saptakoshi waterway, could be used for this purpose.

Minister Kirati stated at the closing ceremony of Dharan Expo 2079, which was organized by Sunsari Industry and Commerce Association in Dharan under the promotion of Nepal Tourism Board, that Dharan is a business and tourism center that can be developed as a tourism hub and a center for marketing indigenous products.

He stated that Nepali products should be marketed by positioning the Nepali tourism model as a product of this region with its own taste and culture. Minister Kirati said that the technology-friendly farmers, entrepreneurs, businessmen should all work towards the sustainable development of tourism by managing Nepali resources collectively. Former Minister Meen Vishwakarma stated that because Dharan has everything, it should take serious measures to keep investment from fleeing. He advised industrialists and businessmen to engage in local product branding.

Dr. Dhananjaya Regmi, Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board, stated that an integrated concept is required for the development of the Dharan area.Hark Sampang, mayor of Dharan sub-metropolitan city, said that there is a need for a rule not to take the capital earned by investment in production-oriented business and businessmen out of Dharan.
