Over 73000 foreign tourists visited Nepal in February

KATHMANDU, March 02: In February 2023, more than 73 thousand foreign tourists came to Nepal.

According to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), 73,255 tourists have visited Nepal by air. In the month of January, 55,074 foreign tourists entered Nepal.

Last year in February 2022, 19,766 tourists arrived in Nepal. In the same month of 2021, 9,146 tourists visited Nepal. Maniraj Lamichhane, Director of NTB, said that the arrival of foreign tourists in recent days is encouraging.

In February, 18,401 tourists came from India. 7887 tourists from America have visited Nepal.

Similarly, 4,802 from Thailand, 3,246 from South Korea, 2,969 from Australia, 2,266 from China, 2,232 from Myanmar, 2,117 from Sri Lanka and 2,108 from Germany tourists have entered Nepal.

According to the latest statistics, the most significant number of tourists have come in February after the pandemic. The number of foreign tourists, which decreased due to the Covid-19 pandemic, increased slightly in 2022. That year, 6,14,148 foreign tourists visited Nepal. Before the pandemic in 2019, 11,97 091 tourists came to Nepal.

But in 2020, due to the corona pandemic, the number of foreign tourists decreased by 81 percent, 2,30,085 tourists entered Nepal. Similarly, in 2021, 1,50,962 tourists came to Nepal.
