Nepal Army conducts an anti-hijack mock drill at TIA

KATHMANDU, Feb 28:Nepali Army's Yudhbhairav battalion forces have conducted 'Anti-Hijacking Integrated' practice at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). According to the airport emergency action plan, the Army's Special troop conducted the practice on Sunday under the 'Illegal Possession of Aircraft Alert-4'.

According to the Army Secretariat, the practice was conducted based on the Airport Emergency Action Plan to mobilize Nepali Army and relevant agencies in their respective roles with high level coordination while updating the security plan. During the exercise, activities including armed intervention and rescue of hostages in case of hijacking or taking control of the aircraft by unauthorized elements were included from the landing of the aircraft to coordination with all the responsible agencies.

Various units of the army, Nepal Police, Armed Police forces, National Investigation Department, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal Airlines Corporation and other concerned bodies were coordinated and participated in the practice.
