CAAN instructs to halt all flights of Guna Airlines

KATHMANDU, Feb 20: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal(CAAN) has instructed Guna Airlines to stop all flights.

The CAAN has instructed to stop all flights saying that the non-payment of salaries to pilots and crew members will seriously affect air safety.

According to Jagannath Niraula, spokesperson of the CAAN, a letter has been sent on Monday to ground all planes for the time being until further arrangements are made.

"There was a risk in flight safety after the employees involved in the flight were not given salary facilities", he said adding, "We have written a letter saying that all flights should be stopped until further arrangements are made considering the risk."

Guna Airlines flights have been closed since last Wednesday. Earlier, Guna had said that the flight was stopped because the spare parts were being brought from abroad for the repair of the plane and the pilots were undergoing training.

But after the flight was stopped, the investigation found that the salary was not paid, according to the CAAN.

Guna Airlines currently has three aircraft in operation. These planes are flying to Tumlingtar, Pokhara, Biratnagar, Bhairahawa, Bharatpur, Simra and other destinations.
