Tourism Minister Sudan Kirati lays foundation stone for new  terminal  building at Biratnagar Airport

BIRATNAGAR, Feb 13: A new terminal building is going to be constructed at Biratnagar Airport. Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Sudan Kirati laid the foundation stone on Monday.

The terminal building to be constructed at a cost of 2.42 billion (excluding VAT) will be 16,277 square meters.

Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Pradeep Adhikari said that the terminal building is the largest in the country.

According to officials, the terminal building of Pokhara International Airport is 15,000 square meters. The terminal building of Gautam Buddha Airport is also 14 thousand square meters.

According to the airport administration, KC Dafe JV has taken the contract to build the terminal building within three years.

A more modern building will be built in 2025. The Director General said that the runway of the airport will also be expanded. He said that the runway will be extended by 270 meters.
