Pashupati temple area starts special cleaning campaign

KATHMANDU, Feb 12: On the occasion of Mahashivaratri, a special cleaning campaign has been started in the Pashupati area to facilitate the devotees who come to visit Pashupatinath.

Inaugurating the special cleaning campaign, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kirati emphasized that the Pashupati area, the center of faith of Vedic Sanatan Hinduism spread around the world, should always be kept clean and holy. He said that if the Pashupati area, which is listed in the world heritage list, can be kept clean and tidy, it will help in the growth of the national economy if it can attract more tourists.

Minister Kirati, who is also the Chairman of Pashupati Area Development Trust Management Council, also inspected the Pashupati area's heritage sites, flower prasad sale room and other places. He also directed the high officials of the treasury to keep the Pashupati area clean at all times. He has instructed all the nine sub-committees formed under the main ceremony committee to do all the necessary work for the preparation of Mahashivratri in Pashupati area. Minister Kiranti is the chairman of the original ceremony committee.
 
Trust spokesperson Revathiraman Adhikari informed that the fund's member secretary Dr. Milan Kumar Thapa, treasurer Narayan Prasad Subedi, executive director Dr. Ghanshyam Khatiwada and other employees, Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police, locals, devotees, local organizations and others participated in the cleanup.

The sub-committee formed under the main ceremony committee will continue the cleaning campaign every day until the day of Mahashiva ratri. Under this, it is said that around one hundred sanitation workers and volunteers working in the trust will also participate.
