Supreme Court seeks govt written reply  to make air services safe

KATHMANDU, Feb 10: The Supreme Court has requested a written response to the writ petition seeking an order to amend the necessary safety standards related to aviation safety.

A single bench of Justice Prakashmansingh Raut on wenesday priority to the government seeking a written reply on the matter. In the writ petition filed by  Senior Advocate Dinesh Tripathi on February 3rd, it has been requested to revise and amend the existing laws, policies and air safety standards related to air transport operations.

In the writ petition, it has been argued that since the air transport sector is not safe with the current air safety regulations, there is a need to revise and revise the standards.

A high-level committee consisting of experts should be formed to review the existing laws, rules and safety standards and also to create a permanent mechanism for monitoring whether the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) have been followed or not. It has also been demanded to build a permanent mechanism for investigating air accidents.
