proposal for feasibility study of Khaptad tourism project

KATHMANDU, Feb 09: A proposal has been requested for the preparation of master plan and pre-feasibility study of Khaptad Integrated Tourism Project. The Board of Investment office issued a notification on Wednesday asking to submit the proposal within 15 days.

Time has been given till February 23 to submit proposals for the pre-feasibility study and master plan of the project. According to the Board of Investment office, such a proposal has to be submitted online. After the selection of proposals, one year time has been given for the feasibility study of the project and preparation of the master plan.

During the international investment conference organized by the government in April 2019, the office of the investment board had put this project on display. According to the details of the project bank prepared during the investment conference, the cost of building integrated transportation and transport infrastructure in Khaptad National Park was estimated to be equal to 187 million US dollars.

It is seen in the details that the investment board has planned to construct a seven kilometer cable car from the Zhigrana post in Doti district to the Khaptad National Park office. It seems that the investment board has a plan to make facilities such as a two star hotel, golf, yoga, meditation, horse riding, cycling, heli service, skydiving and other facilities available. It is also mentioned in the details of the office of investment board that the settlements around the Khaptad National Park area can be developed as a cultural area.

The Board of Investment plans to take up this project on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) concept. The government will have to acquire the necessary land for the project. It is necessary to study the feasibility of how much work can be done in terms of ecotourism in Khaptad and to prepare an integrated plan for building tourism infrastructure in Bajhang, Bajura, Doti and Achham, which are connected to Khaptad area.
