In the last one year, only 659 foreign tourists entered Nepal through the Birgunj customs checkpoint in Parsa. With the decrease in the spread of Covid-19 worldwide, the number of tourists enter Nepal is increasing more than the number of tourists leave Nepal.

According to the Tourist Police Office Birgunj, from January 2022 to January 2023, 659 foreign tourists have entered Nepal from here, while 550 foreign tourists have left.

Anil Kumar Mahato, chief police sub-inspector of Tourism Police Office Birgunj said that the number of tourists is higher than other months in October, November, December and January, when the climate and travel season are considered suitable.

According to the statistics of the office, 102 foreign tourists entered Nepal through the Birgunj in the last month alone,  while 124 people left.

Mahato said that more tourists from America, France, Thailand, Germany, USA and Canada come to Nepal through Birgunj  checkpoint after visiting various cities in India.

According to Inspector Mahato, Tourist Police Office Birgunj is doing the work of raising awareness to avoid inconvenience or fraud to the tourists who come here, in order to avoid inconvenience or fraud in hotels, transport, etc.

The Birgunj Immigration Office has been issuing on-arrival visas to foreign tourists entering Nepal through the Birgunj check point in Raxaul, India.
