Petition filed in Supreme Court demands amendment of provisions relating to aviation

KATHMANDU, Feb 04: A writ petition has been registered in the Supreme Court demanded that the current regulations regarding air aviation should be amended.

A writ petition has been registered demanding that the air transport should be made safe as the civil aviation sector of Nepal is unsafe due to frequent air accidents.

Senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi has demanded that a high-level committee consisting of experts should be formed to review the current laws, rules and safety standards in the writ petition.

In addition, he has demanded to build a permanent mechanism for monitoring the compliance of ICAO standards and to build a permanent mechanism for investigating air accidents.

It is also demanded in the writ petition to create a separate mechanism by managing the Civil Aviation Authority in order to provide and regulate the services.
