Tourist increases 224 percent in January

KATHMANDU, Feb 04: Tourists from China have started entering Nepal. Chinese tourists, who were almost zero due to the Covid pandemic, started to increase from January.

1436 tourists have entered from China compared to only 321 in the previous year. It is a decrease of 87.4 percent compared to 2019 before Covid. In January of that year, 11,430 tourists entered.

Tourist traffic has increased by 224 percent in January 2023.

Last year only 16975 tourists entered, now 55074 tourists have entered. Before Covid, compared to 2019, there were 66714 tourists.

In January, 16,436 tourists came from India, 2,468 from Bangladesh, 2,198 from South Korea, and 2,419 from Thailand.

Similarly, 6561 tourists from America, 3458 from Britain, 3441 from Australia have come to Nepal.
