Younger generation should be involved in heritage conservation: Mayor Balen

KATHMANDU, Jan 27: The mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balendra Shah (Balen) has said that the younger generation should be involved in heritage conservation.

On Thursday, Mayor Balen said that the youth generation should be active to save the culture of Kathmandu while giving grants to the bajas, khals and guthis of Nepal Khadgi Sewa Samiti.

"This cooperation is done more by mutual harmony for the construction of a prosperous metropolis than by one person for another. "The metropolis fulfills its responsibility in the protection, management and promotion of cultural heritage," he said.

On Thursday, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City gave a subsidy of 1 lakh rupees to 47 instruments, khal and guthi under the Nepal Khadgi Sewa Samiti. In a program held at the kathmandu, the representatives of Khadgi and Guthi were given checks for the subsidy amount.

According to the metropolis, the support funds have been provided to the traditional instrument groups and guthis recommended by the Nepal Khadgi Service Committee.

In a similar event, Sunita Dangol, deputy mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, said that the Newar community is independent and prosperous. She said that there is immense cultural wealth within this community. Dangol said, 'We have helped to ensure that the Kathmandu Metropolitan City is with the community working to save the property.'
