Discussion with public representatives about tourism promotion
NEPALGUNJ, Jan 27: An interactive discussion has been organized between public representatives and tourism professionals regarding the long-term plan for the promotion of tourism in Banke. On Monday, the Western Travel Mart organizing committee organized a discussion with the people's representatives of the district in conjunction with the Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan city.
In the program presided over by Prashant Bista, Mayor of Nepalgunj Municipality, Mr. Shreeram Sigdel, coordinator of MART, highlighted the current and long-term plans of tourism promotion and its need and importance. Dhawal Samsher Rana, a member of the House of Representatives, suggested that since Nepalgunj is very important from the point of view of tourism infrastructure, the local levels should be involved in tourism promotion in a planned manner. MP Deepa Sharma said that since Banke district is the gateway to Karnali, which is extraordinary in terms of tourism potential, it is necessary to promote Karnali and create a tourism business plan so that businessmen and public representatives can take advantage of it.
In the discussion, Chief of Narayanpur Rural Municipality Istiaq Ahmed Shah, Chief of Janaki Chhabban Khan, Chief of Kohalpur Municipality Sangita Subedi and others promised to allocate budget from their respective municipalities with priority in the upcoming plan of tourism promotion. Divakar Khanal, president of Han Banke, who is the co-coordinator of Mart, Krishan Prasad Shrestha, coordinator of Banke Tourism Promotion Forum, who is secretary of Mart, treasurer of Mart Dr. Om Sharma, member Sanjay Thapa, Uma Thapamgar and others expressed their views on various aspects of tourism potential.
Nepalgunj City Chief Bishta promised that the local government will take ownership and adoption of the Western Travel Mart as an important initiative to develop Nepalgunj as a tourist hub.
