NRNA urges govt  to maintain same air fare as Nepali citizens

KATHMANDU, Jan 22: The Non-Resident Nepali Association has requested the government to immediately cancel the arrangement saying that Nepalis coming from abroad are charged the same air fare as foreigners during air travel within Nepal.

The delegation including the chairmanship of the association has submitted a memorandum to the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kiranti, requesting to arrange the air fare for non-residents in Nepal to be the same as for Nepali citizens. 

Similarly, in the meeting, the executive officer of the association, Rabina Thapa, requested Minister Kirati to facilitate the participation of NRNs in the tourism promotion sector of Nepal

She said that the National Coordinating Councils under the association are organizing programs to promote Nepali art and culture in different countries of the world and said that she is eager to organize more programs in partnership with the government in the future. president Kul Acharya said that the Non-Resident Nepali Association is working as a bridge to connect Nepal with the world community and will continue to do so in the coming days. President Acharya drew the attention of Minister Kiranti to make the NRN Help Desk which was started operating at Tribhuvan Airport in Kathmandu, as it is currently in a closed state, to make it a regular operation.

The vice president of the NRNA RK Sharma, urged the Nepal government to make a solid plan to attract tourists from the Middle East. He said that the association can bring tourists from the Middle East to Nepal and said that the government should also cooperate for that.

Meanwhile Minister Kirati said his commitment to remove the discrimination in air travel, end the deformities of the airport and create an environment to come and visit Nepal easily. He said that since the government is also cooperating with non-resident Nepalese, that cooperation will remain the same in the future. During the meeting, Minister Kiranti mentioned that the problems faced by non-resident Nepalese when they come to Nepal will be solved soon. He said that the participation of non-resident Nepalese will be increased in programs held abroad and in Nepal.
