Court orders removal of illegal structures built by Tiger Palace Resort

RUPANDEHI, Jan 21: The court has ordered to vacate the public land encroached upon by the five-star hotel Tiger Palace Resort operating at Kotihawa in Tilottama, Rupandehi.

District Court Rupandehi gave this order while hearing a writ petition demanding to vacate the empty land occupied by the resort. Judge Krishnamurari Sivakoti of District Court Rupandehi ordered the vacating of the public land, said Assistant Judge Santosh Kumar Mishra.

Thaneshwar Ghimire, Chairman of Siyari Village Municipality and Deputy Chairman of Rupandehi, Nepali Congress, filed a lawsuit claiming that the resort had created a structure by mixing about 23 kattas of public land, royal canal and public canal of the then Bhairahawa Lumbini underground water project and demanded that the land be cleared and brought back to public use.

Chairman of Lumbini Nalkup Water Consumer Committee Ghimire filed the case in the District Court Rupandehi. The Hong Kong multinational company Silver Heritage Investment Pvt Ltd invested more than 5 billion rupees and brought the resort into operation in 2018 .

It is alleged that the resort, spread over an area of 15 bighas, has created various structures by mixing government and public land. There was competition between Chaudhary Group and Bhusal Group of Rupandehi to buy the resort.
